In the heart of Excelsior, Minnesota, there’s a home that has seen a remarkable transformation… Nestled in this picturesque town, this particular residence underwent a comprehensive main level renovation, with the main focus in this blog being on the kitchen, dry bar, and dining area.
The original layout posed challenges for hosting and daily living, with a dividing wall segmenting the kitchen and dining area. The homeowners, who have a genuine love for cooking and entertaining, envisioned a space that would facilitate both activities seamlessly. Thus began a journey to reimagine and revitalize their home.
Teaming up with Quality Cut Design and Remodel, the renovation process kicked off with the removal of the dividing wall, instantly opening up the space. The focal point of the new kitchen became a magnificent island, designed not only for functionality but also as a piece of art. With a capacity to seat five, the island features shelves for displaying cherished cookbooks and dinnerware.

The choice of materials played a pivotal role in enhancing the kitchen’s aesthetic appeal. A stunning marble countertop with hints of creams and greens was selected for the island, while a dark quartzite perimeter countertop added depth and contrast to the opposing surface. The range wall emerged as a true centerpiece, boasting a Venetian plaster hood accented with brass trim, complemented by a checkerboard Tabarka tile backsplash. Custom arched niches and a brass railing for hanging pots and pans added intricate detailing, elevating the design to new heights.
The integration of custom brass mesh details in the cabinetry flanking the range from Armac Martin brought texture and sophistication to the cabinetry, exemplifying the meticulous attention to detail throughout the renovation. Each piece of hardware became a cherished element, adding a touch of elegance to the space.
Contrast played a key role in creating visual interest, with a harmonious blend of painted and wood cabinets adorning the kitchen. Custom beams and mono points illuminated the space, casting a warm and inviting glow that beckoned guests to linger. The pantry received a makeover of its own, with arched details and a vibrant green paint that highlighted its importance as a storage haven.
Transitioning to the dining nook and dry bar, the design seamlessly flowed from the kitchen, maintaining continuity while offering distinct spaces for relaxation and entertainment. Paneling in the same green hue as the pantry added character to the dining nook, where custom upholstered benches and an antique dining table set the stage for cherished gatherings.
On the opposite side, the custom dry bar beckoned with its allure, featuring Tabarka tile backsplash and a harmonious blend of wood and painted cabinets. The dark quartzite countertops added a touch of sophistication, completing the ensemble.
As the project neared completion, it was evident that every detail, from the lighting fixtures to the choice of materials, had been meticulously curated to create a space that was both functional and visually captivating. Months of planning and hard work culminated in a home that not only met but exceeded the homeowners’ expectations.
Today, as the homeowners bask in the warmth of their revitalized space, filled with memories waiting to unfold, one thing is certain – this renovation journey has transformed not just their home, but their lives as well.
